The Considine-Muhs Family Photoshoot // Phoenix Desert Botanical Gardens

My plans changed this morning when I looked out my window to find chilly, gloomy, rainy, weather that is only appropriate for a Halloween morning. What I thought would be a day to take my kids out to take photos of their costumes in the woods turned into a morning with hot coffee, a date with Grandpa on FaceTime and some cuddles while watching Tangled. Not a bad swap, I suppose.

And what a perfect morning to share this adorable family, not because they are scary or gloomy for Halloween, but because this photo shoot in Arizona was FULL of rain too.  As I was driving to the Phoenix Desert Botanical Gardens early that morning, I could see the clouds over the valley forming in small heavy clusters of puffy gray. I knew it would rain in some places, but it looked pretty clear where I was headed. That’s the joy of Phoenix; if you’re at a high point, you can see miles and miles over the valley. When I arrived to meet Amanda and Tyler, a bride and groom from earlier this year, along with the rest of their family, they were all convinced we’d be ok too. Our first 10 minutes were clear, but after the drizzle turned into drops, our eyebrows raised in questions of what to do. We headed under an awning and decided to wait it out, but when the rain didn’t ease up, we had to make a decision. And this is the moment I knew I really, really liked this family as they smiled and said that we press on and finish our shoot. I really am blessed with the best clients!

This family is seriously picture perfect.

And it was not hard to get some giggles from them all.

But what this shoot was really for was these two. Amanda and her brother decided a whole year ago that they wanted to give Amanda’s parents a photo shoot for Christmas. Isn’t that the best gift ever? Okay, okay, maybe I’m a little biased. 🙂

The goal was to spend more time on these two as they had not had photos together in quite a while. Aren’t they such a good looking couple?

Love.

Sean and his wife Erin are newlyweds too. It’s been quite a year of photos for this family!!!

Erin, you are gorgeous.

And I could never tire of photographing these two. Not only because they are such a cute couple, but because they are SO much fun!

These were the photos that we took under the awning while we were waiting for rain to let up that never let up :). We got some pretty good light despite!

I had originally set them up under this shelter only to realize that the light was thaaat much better out from under it. This was the moment we embraced getting soaked in the name of a good photo. I love how everyone just had fun with it! It could have gone very differently, but this family was too awesome to let that happen!

I turned around after photographing all of the “kids” together to find Mom trying to keep everything dry :).

Blues.

Best Moment of the Day Award. All in an effort to ruffle Amanda’s feathers. Hilarious!

Her reaction when she realized what was going on! Seriously, my favorite photos of the day.

Thanks Considine and Muhs family for being so incredible!

Happy Halloween everyone!!! Hope you stay safe and have lots of fun!
