It’s fall and the palette has been warm reds, oranges and browns as of late. During this session, however, we were close to sun-down and the sky was so incredibly overcast that my normal fall-ish looking session took on softer pastel colors with a lot of blue and green casts. I sort of like it this way… in a family full of boys, it made it a little softer for this mama, who just so happens to be a long-time friend of mine.
Jenn is a (retired) photographer and also happened to take the very first photo that I ever gave my husband (then boyfriend). She was taking photography classes in college at the time and I did my hair, put on my black pea coat and stood outside in the snow while she photographed me on her film camera. I remember going with her into the dark room and helping her develop each roll of film as she taught me the beautiful process of making a photo. I soaked up every word she told me and wished that I had added photography to my Art and Design schedule. Little did I know how much of an impact that time was and where I’d be all of these years later.
Not only was Jenn my roommate, but I was also around when she and Brian started dating and then had the honor of standing in their wedding (and she in mine). What a gift it is now to be able to return the favor for her sweet growing family!
