Once upon a time, I lived in a little town in the middle of Illinois called Galesburg. I grew up as a pastors kid and moved around a lot, but having spent my junior high and high school years there, it was once very much my home. In our little town, we had only two high high schools. The public high school, where I attended, and the Christian school, where a girl named Amy attended. Being that it was a small town, I always knew who Amy was, but never really knew her.
Fast forward to college. Somehow, Amy and I had both decided to go to college at Anderson University, in the middle of Indiana. Being that it was 5 hours away from Galesburg, we decided to drive over for orientation together. We decided to live on the same floor of the same floor and friendship became very easy.
Now fast forward 10 years. After a close friendship, being roommates for 3 years and some change, sharing 3 different places to live (aka. the Nusery, the love loft..ect.. ((yep, those are insiders for all you blog readers out there)), countless tears, loads of laughter, talking about boys until the wee hours, going through tons of firsts together, following her to Arizona, and watching her full circle back to Illinois…. we still remain close friends. She even ended up marrying a boy that I went to high school with that she met out here in Arizona. Crazy, huh?
I thank God for putting Amy in my life and being able to share lifes moments together..even across several states. Amy & Loren came out to Phoenix a couple of months ago and I got to meet the life that they brought into this world, Ashton. It's so amazing seeing someone whom I've grown up with become a mother and watching her be such a wonderful wife.
Thanks Amy and Loren for letting me steal you away for a day while you were here and capture your family. I hope this does a justice.
