On my recent vacation back to Indiana and Michigan, I had the privilege of photographing all of my nephews and niece and a bit of family. So I warn you that there will be LOTS of pictures on the way!
This set happens to be of my brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Tia, and their son "K" (who is eighteen months here). I had an absolute blast going and playing with them and my camera. It was easier to be a bit more relaxed and we didn’t have the pressure of time (all of these are over a few days or so) to deal with, leaving us with so many photos. I can also say that "K" is by far the easiest subject I’ve ever photographed. I’ve never had a kiddo sit so still and stare at the camera for so long with the biggest, cutest grin (so I’m a bit biased because he’s my nephew, but it’s true!). This guy could pick me out of a crowd and smile..which he did at the zoo many times!
On top of a bunch of random pictures, we decided to do a formal shoot as well and they gave me complete control of their wardrobe, location, shots, props, ect. Jer and I did a little shopping with "K" (I so totally picked out his little shorts which was the basis of everyone else’s clothes!).
We grabbed their kitchen chair and drug it out to a very cool Japanese Garden in town. He sat and sat and sat and sat.. such a good boy.
I’m pretty sure "K" and I were chatting about something here. Our conversations usually involve "book," "Mama, Daddy," "bida, bida, bida, bida…"
I was standing on the chair and Jer was right next to me. I love this shot because he wanted Daddy to pick him up and this is from Jer’s perspective. I adore those little moments.
See? He just knows what to do…I never had to tell him to look at me. Mom and Dad are pretty photographic too!
Such a little model, isn’t he?
I was so excited that he gave us the ‘smirk’. I can’t remember why, but I love it. His Dad has the same look.
Ok, seriously, do you see him still looking at me as he is swinging through mid-air??
I’ve been wanting to try this pose, so I made Jer hold him for forever. I’m such a mean sister..
I love this photo..he looks so much like Tia here. Not that he doesn’t always..but they both have the same intent look on their faces.
Sticks and stones may break my bones..
So sweet.
We went to the zoo and had him on a super cute monkey leash thing (I can’t think of what else to call it)..ok, I looked it up and they call it a harness. Sounds much better, huh?
He was so cute with it. How very zoo appropriate.
I love this picture of my brother. It captures so much of his personality. I’m pretty sure he’s about to say something sarcastic.. :).
Weeee!
This picture is so summery to me. A bit of every color. Poor "K" was not feeling very well either. He had had a bit of Benedryl for some hives that made him so not himself that day. Poor duder.
Still a little out of it, but he was so sweet.
So watch out for all the other fam. I think I’m going to give each kiddo their own post as I get some editing done.
