WHO AM I //
Hey there and thanks for stopping by my blog to check things out! Here's a little about who I am. I'm a wedding photographer based in Phoenix, Arizona, along with my hunky husband, Derrick, and our adorable and funny little one year old daughter, Maya Claire.
THINGS I LOVE //
I adore in no particular order: coffee in the morning, comfy clothes and flip flops, drawing on napkins, camping in the woods, late night games with friends, movies in the afternoon, wandering aimlessly in the aisles of Target, finding a book that I can hardly put down, spending time with my family, painting and writing in my journals, girls nights out with cheese plates and laughing and meeting people that I can let my hair down with and build relationships.
HOW I GOT STARTED //
When I get behind the camera, it is my goal to capture relationship and emotion. To find the honest moments in between the scripted ones that show life as it really is. I find these to be the most beautiful.

The way I look through the lens started early. I've been an artist for as long as I can remember, which led me to college where I pursued fine art. My years there were in a search to match my creative desire with a career and thus my exploration began as I studied graphic design and fine arts. I soaked in composition, light, balance and I dug into color. Creating and growing along the way.

This journey made its way into the year of 2005 when my Dad bought me an old film camera. I loved holding that camera in my hands and would get so excited to get each roll developed. In 2006, my husband bought me my first digital camera and it wasn't long before I was wanting to do more. Within the year, I upgraded into a more professional model and made the decision to pursue photography as a career and I've never looked back.

I would LOVE to enter both contests! For the Starbucks one, can I just say that when FALL rolls around the only thing on my mind is a Pumpkin Spice Latte. Phew. So yummy and delicious and reminiscent of fall…..
As for the lifestyle photo shoot, well, this one is a no-brainer. Basically, I am a mother of two small children, ages 1 and 3, and my husband and I don’t have recent photographs of us with our growing-too-fast cutie-pies. At Starbucks, I have restricted myself to ordering only iced coffee with sugar free hazelnut. (I am on a diet. I have lost 27 lbs since we moved! Yeee heee! Prior to my diet: Whole milk black and white mocha – a gazillion calories!)
I would love the lifestyle shoot because I have only a handful of photos of myself with the kids because I am always busy taking pictures of everyone else! Angela Vona - Okay, so I take so many pictures that I could probably create moving pictures from them and it would tell a pretty good story. But when you think about it most of those pictures are just of the kids and it doesn’t really represent the whole picture or the whole family. Most of the time Mom’s don’t get to be in the pictures and you don’t really get the feel of everyday life. That’s why it is so important to regularly take family shots. Your shots are amazing and I actually learn from them, they teach me how to take better pictures myself. It’s also great that you take them in a natural environment since one of my babies does not do well in a studio environment. Even if we don’t win, we will be back each year. I have to go now since my kids are screaming for food. Maybe it’s a good thing that every moment isn’t pictured October 20, 2011 – 12:27 pm
