My Kiddos // Tent in the Woods // Indianapolis Children Photographer

In the middle of all of my shoots for my clients, I thought I needed a break to take some photos of my own little ones. I was looking through some photos last week from the entire year, trying to decide what gifts I was going to give, and realized that they’ve changed so much over the last couple of months. I wanted to capture them right now, as they are before their toddlerhood slips through my fingers. I know I can’t keep them this little much longer, but I am going to hold onto it with everything I’ve got.

When I was thinking about how I wanted to do their shoot, I realized I just wanted it to be playful and just them. I’ve had this tent since last Christmas and have wanted to do use it with them this whole year (I did manage to use it for clients last spring) and I wanted it to be colorful. When you ask Maya what her favorite color is, she’ll tell you red and all-the-colors, meaning the rainbow. So when I saw this sweater (they just sold out) on Black Friday, I knew she’d love it. She’s asked to wear it every day this week and when I told her she could wear it for our photos, she was pretty excited.

Back story to how I got this photo (above): I bought a little pooping reindeer that I was going to save for our Elf on the Shelf to give them and thought that it might make them laugh quite a bit for photos. I sat him on top of my lens and when he pooped out the jelly beans, they gave me this look :). They burst out in laughter afterwards, but so did I and I didn’t come close to getting the shot. So now, everytime I see this awesome photo of my kids, I’ll probably also think of a pooping reindeer. 😉

This girl. I couldn’t believe how into taking the photos she was. Over the last couple of years, it’s been a little bit hard to get her to look right at the camera and it takes all the tricks in my book (read: bribes).

This guys’ mom thought that taking photos during nap time was absolutely the best idea ever. Poor dude, he was pretty tired, but held up for me.

The many faces of Maya.

I have no idea what she was telling him, but I think she was trying to give him a kiss. I LOVE this one.

“Mom, I think I’d like to sit like this for the next pitchure.”

Maya, Noah, Giraffy and Doggy. Bestest of friends.

Eating reindeer poop (jelly beans). I’m not above a bribe for a photo people.

This kills me :). Those glasses!!!!

My bud does NOT like to get dirty! Soooooo different from my first-born!

I love her little Christmas-painted nails holding his little hand. The final bribe…playing at the park afterwards.
