Maya’s First Day of Pre-K

This sweet girl just had her first day at Pre-K today. We were both pretty excited for her to go back! Although we’ve had a long and incredible summer full of adventures for our family, we are definitely ready for some consistency and schedules.

I decided to do the same kind of idea as last year with her first day of school sign standing by the front door. To see last years first day of school blog post, click here. I love how similar everything was and how I can see how much she’s grown.

The left photo is this year and the right is last.

Love this one. And I’m not sure why I switched the order from the other comparison photo. Left is last year and right is this year. I feel like she’s changed SO much in just a year. She had the obvious physical differences like growing out her bangs and being a couple inches taller. And I didn’t realize how similar her little outfit was to last years with her skirt and a layered sweater (this years’ was off before we even made it in to school as it got hot today!). Maya did have her own outfit ideas that she had to have this year like the striped socks and jewelry. Pretty cute.

I also thought it would be fun to ask her some questions. I so wish I would have started this last year, but she probably wouldn’t have told me as much. Although getting her to answer these after school was sort of like pulling teeth too :).

What is your favorite color? Red.

What do you want to be when you grow up? Pilot.

What is your favorite snack? Cookies (we were eating them when she answered).

What is your favorite cereal? The marshtmellow cereal (Lucky Charms).

What is your favorite book? My cars book (Disney Cars).

What is your favorite holiday? Halloween (The girl loves the dressing up and the candy!).

What is your favorite food? Pizza.

What is your least favorite food? Beans.

What is your favorite game? Hide and Seek.

What is your favorite movie? Hook, Planes: Fire and Rescue and Frozen.

What is your favorite T.V. show? Tayo (this is on Hulu and might be the most annoying show known to man-kind).

What is your favorite summer memory? Disney World.

What are you most excited about for school this year? My friends and Grace (her friend that’s in her class from last year).

What is your teachers name? Miss Lisa.

What is your school name? My School

What are you most proud of? Something cool.

What are you good at? Most games and stuff and playing with my brother.

What do you need to work on? I don’t know.

What makes you happy? Pop, computers, something cool, I don’t know.

Did you make a new friend today? Sure I did, how appropriate. A new Ethan.

What was the hardest part of your day? Reading books. Answering your questions and waiting after school to leave.

What was the easiest part of your day? Playing around.

How did you feel w hen you got to school today? So embarrassing. Reary good.

How did you feel when you left school today? Good. Happy.

What are you looking forward to for your next day of school? Mom, I just really want to make cookies and stop asking questions.

Anything else you want to tell me? Nope.

It was a little harder to get this girl focused on photos this morning as she was in a pretty giddy, goofy mood :). But…that’s my girl.
I had to include all the goofball outtakes. She’s just too funny :). Once we arrived to school, she immediately saw one of her good friends from last year and it was like watching people run together in slow motion. They were both pretty excited to see each other! Noah wanted in on the shots too. Cute guy

Maya and Grace were pretty inseparable the rest of the way.

She found her name right away and that was that. Off to school for a new year.

After meeting Maya’s new teacher last week, I cannot wait to see what she thinks of her this year. Derrick and I both were very impressed and I think they will be an awesome fit. I mean, there was a disco ball and she talked of dance parties and making snow angels in glitter (gasp). They will be a match made in heaven.

I have a similar shot to last year too. She seemed to find the grocery cart and kitchen straight away.

Had to peel her away to get a few last photos :). And with her boys. Noah was soooo sad to leave his Sissy at school, but as soon as he realized it was his turn for photos, he was all smiles. This kid loves the camera. So much so that I decided to do a first day of the year photo with him to. Even though he’s not going to school yet :). He loved it! And a comparison shot of him this year compared to the same time last year. Oh my has he grown.

I wish I could say that the rest of the day was uneventful, but it was quite the opposite!!! And, sadly, I have no photos to show for it either. As soon as I picked up Maya from school, we walked back to the car and it wouldn’t start. Ugh. And my kids were both super tired and cranky. One of the other dad’s helped me try to jump my car, but I think my battery was completely dead. My friend, Selena, came to the rescue though and picked us up and brought us home. What would I do without her???

We then got home and Noah was miserably tired and wouldn’t stop coughing. Poor guy. I had already held him out to adjust for a later nap today and he was just tuckered. But we finally got his overly tired self to bed and Maya and I made cookies and answered the above questions…which cheered her straight up. The cookie part, not the questions. She really didn’t like answering those :).

All in all, it was a great first day. And we made the best out of our car breaking down and had some bonus friend time!
